Selkirk College
Selkirk College has been an integral part of life in the West Kootenay-Boundary for more than 50 years. Inspiring lifelong learning and transforming lives through education and training, it is British Columbia’s oldest regional college created through a community referendum. Serving more than 11,000 full and part time students annually, Selkirk College has campuses and learning centres in seven different communities across the region.
Selkirk College offers more than 60 academic, career, vocational and technical programs. Admission Requirements
General Admission Requirements (All Students)
You must meet the general admission requirements of the college as well as the specific admission requirements of your intended program.

English Language Requirements
Summary
If English is not your first language, you must provide one of the following (minimum scores) for entry to Selkirk College University-Transfer, Diploma or Degree programs:
- Completion of English 12 or equivalent
- A "C+" grade in advanced core courses in the Selkirk College English Language Program and Provincial Level English 51
- A TOEFL iBT score of 80
- An IELTS score of 6.0, with no individual band less than 5.5
- A Language Proficiency Index of 4
Post Graduate Diploma programs and a few other programs have a higher English Language Proficiency requirement (6.5 IELTS).

BC Secondary School (or equivalent)
If you have graduated from a BC Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

Out-of-Province
If you have graduated from Secondary School (or equivalent) you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

BC Transfer Student
If you have attended another post-secondary institution, you may be approved to have the credit from courses completed at that institution transferred to Selkirk College. You are strongly encouraged to apply for transfer-credit evaluation at the time of application to the program. Students can use

Mature Student
If you are at least 19 years old at the time of registration you are eligible for general admission to Selkirk. You must also meet any admission requirements of your intended program.

Other Student (including Special Consideration)
If you do not have BC high school graduation, you may still qualify for general admission in one of the following ways:
- Be 19 years of age or older, or
- Be under 19 years of age but have a written recommendation from your Secondary School Principal, or
- Be considered by the Admissions & Standards Committee or Registrar to be capable of succeeding in college courses in view of your particular circumstances
You must also meet the specific admission requirements of your intended program.
