Fairleigh Dickinson University
Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) is an internationally ranked not-for-profit university that was founded in 1942 in Metropolitan New York area. Created as an intuition “of and for the world”, FDU strives to provide students with the multidisciplinary, intercultural and ethical understandings needed to participate, lead and prosper in the global marketplace of ideas, commerce, and culture. As a part of its mission, in 2007, FDU opened its Vancouver Campus as a center for international learning. Providing a culturally diverse learning environment, both international and domestic students have the opportunity to interact, exchange ideas and engage in learning with others from around the world. This unique learning environment is an ideal place of learning for those wishing to bring an international aspect to their education.
In addition to a curriculum that emphasizes cross cultural understanding and communication across all disciplines, the university has fostered strong relations with the United Nations and provides a wide range of extra-curricular programing to broaden students’ awareness of world issues and global relations. FDU Vancouver students have the opportunity to study at our campuses in New Jersey and Wroxton, England, or to do an exchange at our many partner institutions throughout the world.
The Global Scholars Program offers an enriched learning opportunity for students who are particularly focussed on global issues and leadership. This program provides organized and integrated course of study that combines intensive academic multi- disciplinary learning environments with a cross-spectrum of cultural living experiences on and off campus.
FDU focusses on creating a supportive community for learning. Small class sizes, free tutoring and language support resources and a wide range of student activities all help to create a friendly, personal learning atmosphere.
FDU also recognizes student achievement and provides a very attractive Entrance Scholarship program. Consideration is given to all undergraduate applicants, including freshmen and transfer students, and almost all FDU students receive some level of scholarship or grant— ranging from $12,960 to $64,440 throughout their programs.
FDU-Vancouver is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and has received Education Quality Assurance (EQA) from the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education. Fairleigh Dickinson University has a special accreditation as an non-governmental organization (NGO) with the United Nations department of Public Information and has received special consultative status from the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
