Transfer "To Do" Checklist

This checklist can be used as you plan your transfer route:

RESEARCH the program or institution you are interested in transferring to. Look in the academic calendar, check out their website, contact the institution directly (e.g. an Advisor), or search Education Planner for information on programs and institutions throughout the BC Transfer System.

ATTEND information sessions offered by the receiving institution. Call the recruitment office to find out when the next information session is scheduled.

WATCH OUT for deadlines on applications, scholarships, placement tests, etc.

SEARCH BCTransferGuide.ca to see if and/or how your courses will transfer to other BC institutions

TALK with an advisor if you still have questions or concerns.

HANG ON to your course outlines! Store them in a binder or some other place that is safe and accessible.

FIND OUT about a few things before you apply: What is the GPA required for admission? What documents are required (e.g. interim transcripts, volunteer experience, references, etc?)? Are you applying for admission to the institution, a program, or a faculty? Should you apply to the program you want before or after you are admitted into the institutions?

SUBMIT your application to the receiving institution, either directly or online through ApplyBC. Include your application fee, and any other required documents. Apply as early as possible, or well before any deadlines.

ARRANGE to have your official transcripts sent to the receiving institution.

TRANSFER your credit. Once you are admitted, you can transfer your credits. Ask at the receiving institution if you need a special form to request transfer credit.

INFORM the federal and/or provincial governments that you ’re transferring so your financial aid goes with you!

APPLY your credit. If you’ve chosen your courses well, you should be able to apply credits you’ve earned to fulfill the requirements for your new program and institution.
